People look at a map, see that we are west of the metro, and make a decision before they ever type an address into anything.
Type the address in. That is the whole argument.
The number
Maple Grove to The Hide Out is about twenty-one minutes door to door at midday. Not twenty-one minutes of stoplights, either. You get on I-94 and you stay on I-94 until you are nearly here.
That is the part a map does not show you. Miles and minutes come apart the moment one route is freeway and the other is not. A building that looks closer on paper can sit at the end of a string of surface roads, two-lane county highways and a school zone, and give the whole gap back in traffic lights.
How to check it honestly
Do not take our word for any of this, and do not take the map’s word either. Put your own driveway in, at the hour you would actually drive it, on the day you would actually drive it. Saturday morning. Thursday after work. Then do the same for anywhere else you are looking.
Compare the two clocks. That is the number you are going to live with for the next thirty years, and it is usually closer than people expect.
Drive it once
The best version of this test is the one where you actually make the drive and see what is at the end of it. 5000 Odessa Ave NE, St. Michael. Tours by appointment.
