What Is a Garage Condo?
A garage condo is a private garage space you buy and own, the way you would own a condominium, inside a building shared with other owners. You hold the deed to your own unit, an owners association looks after the shared grounds, and what you do inside is your call: park a collection, build a workshop, run an office or set up a lounge.
At The Hide Out Supermax Suites, every suite is deeded, heated with natural gas radiant in-floor heat, and built of reinforced concrete and structural steel.
Owned, Not Rented
The difference between a garage condo and a storage unit is ownership. A storage unit is a monthly bill for space you will never own. A garage condo is real estate: you buy it, you finish it, and you can sell it.
Each suite at The Hide Out has its own deed, its own metered utilities and its own fourteen-foot overhead door. Owners share the cost of the common grounds through association dues, and the developer pays those dues on every suite that has not sold yet.
What Owners Use Them For
Most people start with the vehicles: a collector car, a truck project, an RV or a boat. Then the space becomes more. A concrete mezzanine is included in every suite, and owners finish it as a lounge, a bar, a home theater or an office.
Because The Hide Out is a commercial building, a business can own a suite too. Owners run offices, workshops and small shops by appointment, and the property qualifies for SBA financing.
What to Check Before You Buy
Ask every development the same questions: What is the building made of? Is heat included? Are utilities metered to your unit? How tall are the doors, and how much headroom is inside? Is the mezzanine included or extra? Can a business own the unit?
Our answers: reinforced concrete and structural steel with no wood framing, natural gas radiant in-floor heat included, every utility metered to your suite, fourteen-foot doors, a concrete mezzanine included in the price, and yes, a business can own a suite. Most of our suites have twenty-five feet of clear height.
Garage Condos: Common Questions
What is a garage condo?
A garage condo is a private garage space you buy and own inside a building shared with other owners, much like a condominium. You hold the deed to your own unit, an owners association looks after the shared grounds, and what you do inside is up to you.
Is a garage condo the same as a storage unit?
No. A storage unit is rented month to month. A garage condo is real estate you own. At The Hide Out Supermax Suites each suite is deeded, heated, metered for its own utilities and built to be finished the way the owner wants.
Do garage condo owners pay association dues?
Yes. Owners share the cost of the common site through association dues. At The Hide Out the developer pays the dues on every suite that has not sold yet, so early owners are not carrying the rest of the site.
Can a business own a garage condo?
At The Hide Out, yes. It is a commercial building, so a business can own a suite, employees can work there, and the property qualifies for SBA financing. There is no retail storefront, so visits are by appointment.
What should I check before buying a garage condo?
What the building is made of, whether heat is included, whether utilities are metered to your unit, the door height and headroom, whether a mezzanine is included, and whether a business can own the unit.
