Sunday, October 18. Trunk or Treat at The Hide Out, 5000 Odessa Ave NE, St. Michael.
Cars gather from 1:00PM. Kids come through from about 5:00PM.
Bring the car. Bring the kids. Bring both, which is the entire idea.
How it works
The afternoon is a car event. Doors up, hoods up, people walking the rows the way they do at any of our Sunday gatherings. If you just want to bring something and park it, come at one and stay as long as you like.
Around five it turns into something else. Owners open their doors and hand out candy from the back of whatever they own. Kids walk the row. Some of the trunks are decorated. Some of the trunks are a nineteen-seventies tailgate with a bowl on it. Both work.
It is the one day of the year when a six-year-old gets to walk past a row of open garage doors at eye level with the grilles, and that is a memory that sticks.
Why we do it
Most of what happens at The Hide Out happens because somebody’s door was up and somebody else walked over. Trunk or Treat is that, scheduled, with candy.
It is also the easiest possible way to see the place. Nobody is going to corner you about real estate while you are holding a plastic pumpkin.
