People tour this building in June and picture cars out front and the doors up.
Ask anybody who owns here which season they like and you will get a different answer.
What January is actually like
The slab is heated, so the floor is warm before you take your coat off. Doors down. Lights on. The building is quiet in a way it never is in July, and there is nothing outside asking you for anything: no lawn, no gutters, no list.
That is the night somebody finally pulls the interior out of a project that has been sitting. That is the night three people end up upstairs on somebody’s mezzanine with the TV on and no plan to leave. Winter is the season with nowhere to be, and this is a heated room with your name on the deed.
The unglamorous half
You are not out there shoveling either. Snow removal and lawn care come with the association, along with the insurance policy on the building. The lot is concrete rather than asphalt, so it does not come back out of February looking chewed up. The building has no siding to worry about.
None of that is exciting. It is just the difference between a place you own and a place that owns you.
Tour it in the cold
Honestly, it is the better time to see it. Walk in from a gray afternoon onto a warm floor and you will understand the building faster than any spec sheet gets you there. 5000 Odessa Ave NE, St. Michael. By appointment.
