About Us
The Hide Out was designed and built by masons. Sean Spraungel, who owns it, is a sixth-generation stonemason, and his company, All Stacked Up Masonry, is the mason and the general contractor on every building here. The people who drew it are the people who laid it up, and they are still on site every day.
The Builder
Sean comes from a long line of masons. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather all worked on well-known buildings across the Twin Cities, and the line goes back to a stonecutter who came over from Europe. He designed these buildings himself: the wall thicknesses, the window and door layout, all of it, laid out on a perfect module for concrete block so every opening lands on a full unit and nothing had to be cut or fudged to fit. His way of putting it: designed by a craftsman, built by artisans.
Why We Built It
Sean never set out to build a garage condo development. He went shopping for a space of his own first, somewhere to keep his classic trucks and run something automotive out of the other side, and he could not find a building where he could lock the door, drive away and not think about it again. Then he walked this piece of land. The orientation, the ground and the wetland told him what had to go here. Read the whole story in his words.
We Own Here Too
Sean owns two suites at The Hide Out, including Squarebody, the first suite built out on the property and the one everything after it was modeled on. He would love for an owner to come in and out-do it. Most of what went into these buildings was made within seventy-five miles of the site, by local crews. And until every suite is sold, Sean pays the association dues on the ones that are not, so the owners who are here now are not carrying the place while the rest fills in.
