The brochure version of a place like this is a clean suite with a car in it and nobody around. That is not what a Saturday is.
How it actually goes
Doors start going up around nine. Somebody has the hood off something and a problem they have not solved yet. Somebody else pulls in with coffee, takes a look, and has an opinion about it, because everybody here has an opinion about it.
By eleven there are four doors open on the row and a conversation moving between them. Somebody’s kid is riding a bike down the drive aisle. Somebody’s wife brought a chair. A truck comes in with a trailer behind it and three people walk over to spot him in whether he needed it or not.
By two the project is either fixed or worse. Either way it is a good day.
The part people underestimate
You are not buying a space. You are buying a reason to leave the house and somewhere worth going when you do.
Most people who look at this building are thinking about square footage, ceiling height and what the finished number comes to. All fair. But the thing that actually changes your life is smaller than that: the Saturday stops being a list of errands and starts being a place you go.
You are welcome to come look
Come out on a weekend and you will see it for yourself, because it is hard to fake and impossible to photograph. 5000 Odessa Ave NE, St. Michael. Tours by appointment.
