Somebody described this place as a country club where you own the real estate instead of the membership, and it has been hard to improve on since.
The comparison holds up better than it sounds. A country club is a building full of people who like the same thing, showing up on the same days, with somewhere to sit. The difference is what you walk away with. A membership is an expense. A suite is a deed.
What actually happens here
The suites are private. The road between them is not.
Doors go up on a Saturday morning. Somebody has a fridge. Somebody else has a project with the hood open and an opinion about it. An afternoon becomes a night that nobody planned, and half the people standing there did not know each other in the spring.
The building is quiet on a Tuesday. It is not quiet on a Saturday. That is not an amenity we built. It is what happens when you put enough doors on one road.
What is around it
There is a tunnel under the road, golf cart width. You leave your suite, drop under the traffic and come up at Fox Hollow without ever crossing a lane. The restaurant and the bar over there have both been remodeled.
Gas, food and a movie theater are inside a couple of miles. Minutes off I-94.
Behind the building there are roughly ten acres of pond, wetland and wooded hillside, and a utility easement that means it will never be built on. Suites facing that way look at nothing else. Deer come through. So do the turkeys. There were three sandhill cranes standing in the pond a few weeks ago.
Open your door in the morning and see what walks past.
The part that is different
This is new. We are not going to pretend otherwise, and we are not going to trot out testimonials from owners who have been here five minutes.
What we will say is that the interesting time to walk into a place like this is before everyone else has. The rooms that are finished are extraordinary. The ones that are not yet are somebody’s decision that has not been made.
